After our last world trip we took up residence in Brussels, slap-bang in the middle of the city center. That way we kept ourselves surrounded with sights to see, flashing camera’s and lost tourists. Grand Place? Manneken Pis? These were some of the most common questions we had to answer almost daily for the past 4 years. Next to the question: where were you guys again this weekend?
4 years in Belgium. 4 year in Brussels. 4 awesome years, during which we discovered Brussels and spent lots of time with family and friends. Nieces were born, friends got married, leading to more little ones, lazy Sunday brunches with the family, etc. We also got hitched, but before we start having our own little ones, we really wanted to pick up our backpacks again to discover a bit more of the world.
But even in Belgium and Brussels we didn’t sit still. We got to know every corner of Brussels, roamed the internet looking for cheap travel deals, and tried every restaurant in the capital … preferably at least twice. We will try to also put our adventures of the past few years on our blog in due time, filling it with restaurant tips and travel ideas in and out of Belgium. It doesn’t have to be on the other side of the world to be great fun!
We also hope that it will be a bit infectious, convincing people to explore more and to enjoy the little trips close-by instead of focusing on the far away and exotic. We always equally enjoy both, but Europe is slightly harder to do on a budget :-).
We would happily infect you with our eating habits too, but that might not be the healthiest route to take. Here you will find (in time) our favorite Belgian and mainly Brussels restaurants, often with some tips on the surrounding area.
We will kick off with one of our favorite food places in Brussels, definitely something we crave for during the Christmas holidays: check out our favourite food truck Urban Cook.
